Cleveland, December 29: Over 200 block streets and highways.

Anger and outrage pour into the streets over the no-indictment verdict on the murder of Tamir Rice! Cleveland: December 29.  At 3pm on Tuesday, over 200 people poured into the streets after a rally at the Justice Center. There were lots of students and youth, of different nationalities, Black activists, people from peace movements, supporters of the Revolutionary Communist Party and the Cleveland Revolution Club members and 4 family members who lost loved ones by the police from Cleveland and Detroit.  There was a deep  spirit of outrage and anger at the no-indictments in the police murder of 12 year old Tamir Rice, who was playing with a toy gun in a park.  People chanted “Indict, Convict, Send the Killer Cops to Jail” and many other chants as we took the streets, blocking at least 6 key intersections in the downtown.

We blocked an intersection which caused the main highway , route 90, to be shut down at an on-ramp for over 45 minutes. Though the police were out in force, with horses and at one point with cops in riot gear and dogs, people continued for 6 hours in the wind and cold.  We blocked a corner where  high end restaurants are located. Many people standing around listened to one of the agitators speak to the issue of police terror and one speaker said, “We will make things uncomfortable for people.”.

Some people listened and signed up to join Stop Mass Incarceration Network.  One person remarked how revolution was in the air, that people were talking about the police terror being caused by the system and said we need to bring it down. Also, we saturated the  crowd and people along the streets with “This Cannot Go Down Like This! This cannot go on!” statement from Revcom.us.   At the rally a writer for Revcom and someone from the Revolution Club called for revolution as the solution and called for a communist revolution led by BA and the RCP, the party he leads.  As the marches ended, a Black man said, “With the police and their horses, they think they are going to intimidate us, but no we are going to be out here. Tonight is just the beginning.”

At the end It was announced to meet at the Justice Center at 3pm on December 30 to march.  Also, plans are being made to have actions on New Year’s Eve.
