Tues, Feb 16, 8 am, Counter protest the pro-police brutality anti-Beyoncé rally Tuesday, February 16, 8 am: Come to the counter protest against the pro-police brutality anti-Beyoncé rally at NFL headquarters, 345 Park Avenue at 51st St. At 1:00 PM Veterans of the original Black Panther Party are calling to gather at 51st & Fifth Avenue, and march the two blocks to NFL headquarters at 51st & Park Avenue.
How dare defenders of police terror and brutality call a rally to denounce Beyonce’s NFL 2016 Superbowl halftime performance? If you saw the half time program during the Superbowl game last week, you know that the celebrated pop artist and singer Beyoncé stole the show with her performance. She and her crew were dressed to evoke the image of the Black Panther Party and recalled the memory of Malcolm X with a giant X on the football field. This has provoked a firestorm of vitriol and attacks from the National Association of Police Organizations, former New York Mayor Rudolf Giuliani and others who give impunity to police when they kill Black and Latino people.
The National Association of Police Organizations wrote to the NFL commissioner, "Last night’s half-time performance by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter hit an all-time low, even for a League that already turned a blind eye to its players perpetuating the 'hands up, don’t shoot' blood libel on American police.” and "You’ve done your part to make trendy and acceptable the symbols of kidnapping and murder of American police officers.” Of Beyonce’s performance, Giuliani fumed, "I thought that she used it as a platform to attack police officers…”
What are they talking about? Last year over 1,100 were killed by law enforcement in the U.S. versus 39 police officers killed by gunfire. What is the real problem?! Is the problem NFL players doing “Hands Up! Don’t Shoot!” or that the police routinely murder people who have their hands up like Michael Brown? People like Giuliani and others who defend the genocidal, epidemic killing of unarmed, innocent civilians – mainly Black and brown, are saying: "The police can kill with impunity, and you do not have the right to protest that." They are scared and threatened when major cultural figures take moral stands against police terror and violence that is gripping this country.
Police unions in New York and across the country attacked and threatened Quentin Tarantino when he said, "I have to call the murdered, the murdered and the murderers, the murderers...” on October 24, 2015, at the rally for “#RiseUpOctober! - Stop Police Terror! Which Side Are You On?”. In Beyonce’s music video, “Formation”, released just before the Superbowl, one scene shows a line of cops in riot gear and the scene shifts to grafitti that says, “Stop Shooting Us”. These cultural figures have big followings, and tens of millions pay attention to what they say and do, and these mouthpieces for this system cannot tolerate this. We have an obligation to stand with them, and in turn inspire others to do the same by bringing the reality of police terror to greater numbers of people. Which Side Are You On?
At a time when people have been rising up against the genocidal tide of police terror and mass incarceration in ways we haven’t seen since the 60’s, backward, fascist reactionaries like Rudolph Giuliani, and various national police organizations have unleashed a torrent of abuse attacking Beyoncé accusing her of “cop killer entertainment.”
NO! The problem is people murdered by the police with impunity. People cannot allow the supporters of police terror and brutality to get away with attacking and trying to intimidate prominent people when they speak out against police brutality.

Another Outrage: Mario Woods was executed by the San Francisco police on Dec. 2nd. On Feb. 12, San Francisco authorities stated that the killing was "justified." This outrage was captured on videotape.

Support the Freedom Fighters Arrested for #ShutDownRikers Direct Action at Rikers Island! Come Out for Court Support
February 22, Monday, 9 AM Queens Criminal Court, 125-01 Queens Boulevard, Kew Gardens Check the court docket for "Clark Kissinger." Facebook Event.See Petition below or click here.
Of the 17 people were arrested for nonviolent civil resistance at the entrance to Rikers Island prison complex on October 23 as part of #RiseUpOctober, Clark Kissinger, manager of Revolution Books, and Miles Solay of the rock band Outernational, have been targeted for heavier charges. They are scheduled for trial on Monday, February 22, 2016.
You are needed to come out. Building court support is a part of building the movement of resistance to police terror and mass incarceration; it is not a distraction! Petition: To Queens County NY District Attorney Richard A. Brown: We the undersigned urge the Queen District Attorney to drop charges of Obstructing Government Administration and Disorderly Conduct against Clark Kissinger, case #2015QN053342 & Miles Solay, #2015QN053343.
These men participated in a peaceful, non-violent protest on October 23, 2015, near the entrance to NYC's jail at Rikers Island. The demand of the protest was “Shut Down Rikers” based on at least 15 prisoner deaths precipitated there by medical neglect; hundreds of guard-inflicted injuries of prisoners; and repeated lawsuits settled by the City of New York over prisoner abuse.
On December 15, 14 others arrested at the same time were given a 24 hour Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, or in some cases were not prosecuted.
A scheduled trial on February 22 should instead be a hearing where the prosecutors announce that no charges will be pursued on these two men.
